Will water from a well – with a high sodium content – cause fruit trees and/or vegetable plants to thirst? I know plants aren’t humans but I’d think this wouldn’t be good for them. I can water my 36×60 garden good enough per water hose but have the opportunity to use an existing well for irrigation on the hot summer months. I don’t want to run the water through any kind of filter(s), as this could become too costly.

I don’t know the concentration of sodium in the existing well water to which I’m referring. The owner said it had a "high salt" concentration.

Any advice is appreciated.

Hi guys,
I just got a new water hose for my gardening and stuff. The problem is that once I start the water, it’s a mess, water starts to spill from the top of the hose itself, (which means from the part attached to the faucet) and I don’t know what to do. I tried to reduce the strength of the water and stuff like that, however, nothing changed. Is there a specific product or something that could help me to stop the spilling? Because my faucet it’s right on the new seeds I just planted, and too much water could kill them before germination. Thank you for your time guys.

Low water pressure/ actually volume.?

My house has decent water pressure if i’m only using one faucet. But if i’m using a faucet and flush a toilet then the faucet flows much slower than originally; the more water utilities i use the less flow i get out of each utility.

And, for instance: When i’m using garden hose, and i first open the hose nozzle it shoots water say 20 feet; but it quickly goes from shooting 20′ to 2′. Let off the nozzle and i can feel water hose build up pressure.

This is on city water system.

I popped off the cover on the water meter (hoping to find a valve in there half closed) and the electrical line going from the ‘auto meter reader’ disappears into water.

Is the water meter supposed to be under water?

Any help?
Yes it is existing problem.

I pumped the water out of the ‘meter well’ and found the drain pvc tubes are clogged in there. I emailed the city to fix drain; and asked for them to check pressure/flow on their end.

House was built in 1952 i think…. so pretty old. Interior plumbing is ‘newer’ than that though; no idea on age of outdoor water line. This problem has been occurring (and slowly getting a bit worse) since i bought it 3 years ago. I have not been able to locate where the water enters the house.

House is on slab.

Could new line be run under slab? Or could new line be run to existing exterior hose bib to feed the water system? (i know that sounds totally backwards but maybe work?)

Thanks for the help.

Will be getting a plumber involved after city okay’s their end. (isn’t there some sort of pressure valve on their end also that could be hanging?)
Noticed the water meter body was stamped "5/8", so i’m assuming my main line is 10/16". :)

I just bought an old old house and this guy made something that had to do with his indoor garden. It is really really nice, made out of nice wood and connected to the floor. It is a large box I would say, about 10 feet by 5 feet and 2 feet deep. It comes off the floor about 4 feet, though. On the top there is grow lights hanging, 8 of them. Inside the box it is layered, bottom layer is 4 inches of particle board. On top of that is 4 inches of Styrofoam, on top of that is mulch. No plants are inside. There are water hoses going into what looks like the styrofoam. There is also a water hose that you can turn on that sprays water in front of it.

Has anyone built something like this? If its for plants, why is there no dirt? The watering seems to keep the woodchips ‘damp’

Thanks!

Kyle
I guess I could call the last guy, but I would not want to be bothered by the guy I unloaded my house on. I will get some pictures tonight…. I was thinking about putting dirt into it to plant, i cant figure out why it has mulch and not dirt for planting

Whats on my organic Rosemary bush?

Help!! Something's eating up my garden's…?

My garden’s in shambles. I planted flowers, vegetables and herbs. But most of the leaves have been eaten. The flower petals too! It started with a few little holes in the leaves, next thing you know, the only things left are the stems. My local hardware store recommended a liquid a that is mixed with water when attached to the water hose. It says not to use on lettuce and the like. I don’t see much difference after I used it. Also, whatever I use has to be safe for the veggies and herbs. Help!

What happened to the "Garden Dig-It"?

I’m looking for the Garden Dig-It and cannot find it anywhere now. Has it been pulled off the market? I have one, but I need another one. It is a T-shaped, water pressurized post hole digger. It’s also used to dig out rocks and clean things. It’s about three feet tall and about and inch or two around. It’s yellow with green handles -one of which connects to your water hose. If you have one or have any knowledge of where I can get one, I’d be very grateful. THANK YOU!

I’ve got a 24′ round above ground pool. Looks like rust stains, probably from my garden water hose. Left stains on the liner. I also have a dull, dirty look on most of the bottom and on the walls. What could it be and how do I clean it?

how often should i feed my garden?

i use the liquid type mirclegrow the kind you hook up to your water hose
