How to start a lawn care business?

I am 15 and I want to make a lot of money this summer, of course I could try to find a job but not many people will hire a 15 year old boy. So in return i thought up starting a lawn care business, the company will limit it self to mostly mowing, and weeding, with the occasional other jobs around the yard. I have asked a few guys if the want in and they all seem pretty intrested but how can i ensure they wont back out? if i loss them the business goes bell up considering i have no equipment but i will be running the show, and the business side of it. Also whats a good price for mowing and weeding, i want to be able to beat all other services, any help would be great, thanks.

my boyfriend and i have been in the same apartment for almost 7 months but he works in lawn care …not landscaping. Since this recession business has been slow and we cant afford it what can we do? we both are working 2 jobs and still cant afford it. I am sure my apartments don’t care what situation you are in as long as they got there money. please no sarcasm i don’t need it right now

I killed my lawn. Now I want to fix it.?

I ran out of money this summer so among other things I stopped watering my lawn. It got hot. The lawn turned brown. Kind of cool, because you don’t have to mow much then, which meant my boyfriend didn’t lose those extra pounds he gained over the winter. But now with a bit of rain and some watering, my lawn has come back, but it’s more weeds then just grass now. What are some steps I can take to get rid of the weeds and get grass back in place. (It’s really the landlord’s lawn, but he took off the rent when I agreed to take care of it myself — oops!)

Lawn Mowers, Motor vs. manual?

I am looking to purchase a new front throw lawn mower in order to take care of my lawn, and I was wondering if there is any value in paying more money for a motorized lawn mower rather than purchasing a motorless rotary one.

Best lawn care for a rugby field?

I belong to a rugby club in Maryland. It’s currently March 14th and is getting warm enough for grass germination.

Our field is in awful shape. We attempt to reseed it every year. We do a great job watering it and mowing it, but by mid summer, it’s overtaken by weeds. When we start playing in fall, we tear up the field and are left with a mud-pit by November . . and the cycle repeats itself.

So . . .here’s our dilemma.
- We have games on the field for most of the next 6 weeks. If any one of these games occurs within 3 days of rain, the field will be muddy and we will destroy it (this is very likely).

- We know we need to start dealing with the weeds now ., . . but we are also eager to get seeding. Can we do both at the same time?

- An area lawn care specialist recommends aerating and seeding immediately . . .and then doing the crab-grass preventer/fertilizer treatment in late March. Does this make sense or does this person just want to get aeration money.

We have a very moist field. We have engineered drainage, but it’s just in a spot that is low-lying and retains water. My gut is telling me that if we aerate, all of that work will be undone in the first game as we squish every hole closed. I would think the first mow would close every one of those holes as well.

Many thanks for any advice.

I have a very large garden and it usually takes me around 5 or 6 trips back and forth with a watering can just to go through it once, and I usually need to water twice a day (it gets pretty hot / dry where I live…), and it has gotten SO annoying that I just can’t bare it anymore, walking back and forth and back and forth just to water. Is there any way I can make a hose work without a hookup? I’ve heard of things where you can connect it to a sink, I know the water pressure wouldn’t be great but would it work? Is there any alternative?

Note:, the previous owner of my house, the one who built the house didn’t ever even think about gardening, so they didn’t add a hose to the house. Problematic considering I’m a huge fan of gardening. The way everything works and how money works I can’t add a hose hook up, so that’s not an option.

Can I pay someone to water my lawn?

I am moving out-of-town and will be leasing my house for at least a year. I would like a lawn care service to take care of my grass while I am away. I received an add from Scotts, but they only mention things like fertilization, weed control, and overseeding. So I am assuming I would be responsible to water the lawn regularly myself. I am definitely not leaving that in the hands of my leasees.

Do I have to find and pay a separate service to take care of the watering or should a lawn care service like Scotts have that included? Does such a watering service even exist?
Keep in mind that the leasees would be responsible for the water bill, so using water from my house would cost them money. So this would have to be some kind of water service similar to a pool water service. Separated water from a truck, not the house.

Hi all

This morning as I cleaned (Ug!) doggy poop from my shoe I noticed that as I attached the garden hose pipe to our poutside tap my thumb kept jumping, Like a small charge was passing through the tap, I checked this a few times just to make sure I wasnt going a bit loopy and there is definatly a small charge passing through our outside tap, enough to spasm my thumb and index finger. Like a 9v battery on the tongue.

Now naturally this concerns me, and yes I am doing the obvious by getting an electrician around ASAP, but I’d like a little feedback by possibly someone in the know as Im worried about this. What could possibly cause this, I hate to think we’ll be cleared out financially by any serious electrical work as we’re first time buyers with no money left, this didn’t get highlighted in our survey and I’d hate to put our lives at risk by not taking this seriously enough.

Thanks for all feeback in advance
