How to start a lawn care business?

I am 15 and I want to make a lot of money this summer, of course I could try to find a job but not many people will hire a 15 year old boy. So in return i thought up starting a lawn care business, the company will limit it self to mostly mowing, and weeding, with the occasional other jobs around the yard. I have asked a few guys if the want in and they all seem pretty intrested but how can i ensure they wont back out? if i loss them the business goes bell up considering i have no equipment but i will be running the show, and the business side of it. Also whats a good price for mowing and weeding, i want to be able to beat all other services, any help would be great, thanks.

Best lawn care for a rugby field?

I belong to a rugby club in Maryland. It’s currently March 14th and is getting warm enough for grass germination.

Our field is in awful shape. We attempt to reseed it every year. We do a great job watering it and mowing it, but by mid summer, it’s overtaken by weeds. When we start playing in fall, we tear up the field and are left with a mud-pit by November . . and the cycle repeats itself.

So . . .here’s our dilemma.
- We have games on the field for most of the next 6 weeks. If any one of these games occurs within 3 days of rain, the field will be muddy and we will destroy it (this is very likely).

- We know we need to start dealing with the weeds now ., . . but we are also eager to get seeding. Can we do both at the same time?

- An area lawn care specialist recommends aerating and seeding immediately . . .and then doing the crab-grass preventer/fertilizer treatment in late March. Does this make sense or does this person just want to get aeration money.

We have a very moist field. We have engineered drainage, but it’s just in a spot that is low-lying and retains water. My gut is telling me that if we aerate, all of that work will be undone in the first game as we squish every hole closed. I would think the first mow would close every one of those holes as well.

Many thanks for any advice.

I want to work for a lawn care company but my friend said you have to be 18 to operate a commercial grade zero turn mower as a job. Is this true. By the way I am 16 and have a drivers license.

My Shower Is Just Terrible!?

My shower is so bad it’s like a trickle. My dad said it’s like that because the tank cannot go any higher in the loft so the pressure is very low (I hope that makes sense) and therefore the water is just a trickle and there is “apparently” nothing that can be done about it. It has got so bad that I now have to shower in the garden with the garden hose (yes really!) just to get a good quick shower in the morning/evening. I am not calling my dad a liar lol but I would like to know (from people with more plumbing experience and knowledge) if there is any way to boost the pressure for the shower and make it a real shower instead of a little trickle. Thanks in advance for any replies! Xx
I have taken the head off to check for blockages before and replaced the shower head/lead and it makes no difference : ( If I were to get a plumber in to add a pressure pump thing (sorry I am not very technical lol) does anyone have any idea if it is a big job or how much it would cost? Thanks so much for your replies! Xx

Who should be mowing our lawn?

I am a housewife and a babysitter. I take care of all the laundry, and cleaning, and cooking, and the kids. And anything else that needs to be taken care of inside the house. My husband goes to work……he drives 2 hours each way, and works 8 hours. He doesn’t have to anything when he gets home. It would be nice if he would mow our lawn though. He thinks it is my job, since I am a housewife and that is "what I chose to do". I say it’s outside of the house and that makes it his job.

In your opinion……whose job is it??
For Marissa who says it only takes 15 minutes to mow a lawn. It takes 4 hours to mow our lawn.

Spiderwebs? Is there any simple removal?

Is there anything on the market that will neutralize the stickiness of spiderwebs? We seem to get them along the eves of the house and the garden hose simply doesn’t do the job. With all of the chemicals on the market, surely something out there will take care of this problem. It’s an eyesore to see these monthly. Currently we’re climbing the ladder and "cotton-candying" these issues. Any help would be great. Thank you.
What we mean by COTTON-CANDYING them is taking a stick and twirling the webs around the stick like cotton candy. Thanks.

Is it best to aerate or just re- sod an old lawn?

I live in Chicago, I have unsuccessfully tried for two summers now to make my lawn look decent. I am very frustrated at this point. My lawn is approx 9000 sq ft and has some sunken in spots (few) but I believe the dirt is really compacted. It has bald patches, brown patches, weeds, you name it-It’s not horrible looking, I am told, but it’s not that lush green lawn I want. I’ve come a long way, though- the previous owner was an elderly woman that had not taken care of it in years. There was no grass to speak of really when I first moved in, so I have made progress I guess.

Sorry for rambling :) – given the area I need to take care of by myself. Is it easier to re-sod, aerate and re-seed or move away? (just kidding) ANY advice would be appreciated.
OH!- Should I rent a machine or can a manual one that seeds and aerates do the job? (Like the ones at Home Depot)
