i live in Nevada. I have no clue whatsoever on how to take care of a lawn let alone plant flowers but i know i want to learn being this as our first house with a backyard.
Pretty decent size i’d estimate around 25×15. The grass is totally dead (if any at all) at the moment but the owners are planning on resodding it for us.
So any tips or websites on how to care for it and what types of flowers to choose for Nevada’s climate.?? Really want something low-maintenence.

please take a look at this link.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaNoO2Vm39I&feature=pyv&ad=3877587465&kw=roof%20clean&gclid=CPO12oTH86cCFUmo4AodJSVdcg Don’t worry it is safe its from youtube it basically sums up what I am trying to do. I need to figure out this guys whole gas powered water pump setup. I don’t get how he hooks up the garden hose to the gas pump because all the gas powered pumps are like 2" or more which is way wider then a garden hose. He might have a adapter but no clue of where to get a adapter. Time stamp 1:08 shows a good close up of his set up.

I received a letter from the water company alerting me that my water consumption has gone up 300% since the last reading and my bill is 0.00. My water bill is usually under .00. I checked all the toilets for leaks and that is not a problem. I have no water draining in my house and the faucets outside are all off. My neighbor put in a shed last fall and drove over the sprinkle system. In the spring, I had a sprinkle company come out and check the system when I turned it on this spring and he said it was all OK. So, the large bill came when the sprinkle system went on. It usually is a bit higher but not 0.00. (lived here 15 years). No neighbor hood pools that were filled with my garden hose. I have turned off the sprinkle system and am afraid to turn it back on. Help, what should I do and where could this leak be? I do have a water softener…..any suggestions?
I have really nice neighbors and live in a good neighborhood. I don’t think anyone is stealing. I do have an area in the lawn that is soggy and not drying up like the rest of the lawn.
I did the dye test in the toilets: instilled a few gtts of food color in the tanks and non of it seeped into the toilets after 1 or 2 hours. So, toilets are all OK. I will call a plumber out! thanks for all these suggestions! I was clue-less as to the next steps to take.

I recently moved into a house here in Denver and have never had a sprinkler system. I have no clue how to go about turning it on. I see the sprinkler heads when I mow the yard and I see a timer type box in the basement and that’s about the only things I have figured out so far.
A buddy in the office mentioned something or other about a main valve that needs to be turned on using this T bar? I pulled a metal circle cover off that I found under some weeds in the yard and saw some wires and a hole about 4 feet deep. No clue where I was supposed to stick a T bar tool in there. There’s also another box closer to the garden hose area that I opened up and found a bunch of black pieces of plastic (and a few monster size spiders). I did use the T bar tool to bash a few of those monster spiders, so that was good. Also the guy in the office mentioned something about shut off valves and what not, but the only thing I’ve found is a couple of handles on the pipe near the outside garden spicket.
As I’m sure anyone who reads this has figured out by now… I am clueless with this sprinkler system. Can anyone tell me what to do or do I bite the bullet and pay someone to come out?

I have a pipe coming about 8 inches vertically out of my lawn. I accidentally cut the top off with my lawn mower today exposing a hole in the top of it. Any clue what it could be? I never cared until I put a big hole in it exposing it to the elements. Also, any thoughts on how to seal the 5 inch diameter hole I made?
It’s a suburban area. It was sealed, so would it be a vent?

The pipe in front of the house for the garden hose is leaking terribly and running out the hose… The pipe that connects to the hose is sautered on to the water line.. Will I have to un-sauter it??
Help if you know anything about this stuff, we moved into this house about a month ago.. we have no clue how to fix things… hehehe
Thank you!

It is single digit weather right now with subzero windchills. It looks to be staying that way for another 5 days or so. Yesterday when we went to do a load of laundry, the washer would not come if a cold cycle was involved. Only hot water would come out, even if it was a warm/cold setting. I’m assuming that the pipe holding the cold water has frozen. We live in a slab home and I have no clue if anything has burst or not. Everything looks normall. The washer and dryer are in our kitchen, next to the kitchen counter up against an exterior wall and is very cold (didn’t insulate the dryer vent as we should have) When I peak behind the dryer, I see a long pipe on the floor extending from the kitchen cabinets. There is one small spot on the pipe that looks white, maybe frost? All the other cold water sources are working fine . Sinks, shower, everything but the cold setting on the washer, and the outside water spigot (hook a garden hose up to). I have no idea where to begin!
