I’ve NEVER been big on keeping up a lawn & still not excited about it. But now that I’m a homeowner, I want to begin to take some basic steps to make my yard a lil’ better. With that being said, what are some things I can do? Thanx in advance for your answers.

I have several large pine trees in our front yard with about 7 years worth of pine needles underneath. I have read conflicting information regarding leaving the needles…as natural mulch and evidently a desireable trend…versus raking out the area. I’m leaning toward removal…and placing a red shredded bark mulch over the same area – my own personal preference, not to mention the needles are very dry and brittle in the summer heat – but am concerned I may cause undue harm. The current needle layer appears to be about 5 inches thick with needles on top and a fine black sandy soil beneath. (Is this good?) We also see a lot of spiders and other bugs. Is it advisable to clear it out? Is the red shredded tree bark a good replacement? Any help is appreciated. We are new to lawn & tree care! Thank you!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK THE TIME TO RESPOND WITH THOUGHT AND DETAIL! WE TORE UP ONE AREA BEFORE I ASKED THE QUESTION AND WILL NOW GO BACK AND TRY TO "FIX IT" IN FAVOR OF A REDUCED NEEDLE COVERING. THANKS AGAIN!!!!

Who do I contact about it? I’ve googled and googled and Im not finding anything about it.
I’ve tried City regulations and ordinances & still nothing. Please help!
- This man is also a real jerk. I’ve had friends and family stay over and he has actually left notes on their cars saying if they dont move it, he’ll have it towed. Uhm.. grouch! They’re not hurting him or anyhting, he’s just rude. He has never came and spoken to anyone either, he always leaves rude notes and his number. You call, and no answer!! It just upsets me that he’s so rude about anyone parking infront of his EMPTY house. He doesn’t even take care of it, the tree in his yard is falling down and big branches all over, his grass is super tall and he has hundreds of phone books on his door step. He should have to take of it!
Yeah, so what Im being a B about it but, come on!!

please take a look at this link.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaNoO2Vm39I&feature=pyv&ad=3877587465&kw=roof%20clean&gclid=CPO12oTH86cCFUmo4AodJSVdcg Don’t worry it is safe its from youtube it basically sums up what I am trying to do. I need to figure out this guys whole gas powered water pump setup. I don’t get how he hooks up the garden hose to the gas pump because all the gas powered pumps are like 2" or more which is way wider then a garden hose. He might have a adapter but no clue of where to get a adapter. Time stamp 1:08 shows a good close up of his set up.

It is 15 hp OHV. 6 speed, 42" deck. Kohler Command. We used it only in the summer & was well cared for.

We spread it out, sprinkled it with sand & cement topping mix, sprayed it down well with a garden hose and it just didn’t work at all. We are trying to do that patio that looks like rocks but is held together by concrete. HELP!!!!!!! Thanks
Wow my poor husband. He unloaded all these rocks and I helped spread them. They are all out there and I am hoping there is something to pour over them. I hate to tell him they have to be dug back up. YIKES Thanks for all the help so far

Hello, I am thinking about buying this electric corded mower:
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-LM175-18-Inch-Electric/dp/B00005AKZE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1252807536&sr=8-1
I have read a ton of reviews, and there are a lot of pluses, but my main concern is the cord. I even searched online to see if there is a strategy on how to mow a lawn with a corded mower and couldn’t find anything. I am wondering if you should hang most of the cord on your shoulder, or lay it out in a certain direction, or just let it drag naturally and lift it up every time you are about to start on a new row? I want to ask before I look like a complete tool in front of my new neighbors since this is my first home and I have lived in apartments for most of my adult life where the lawn care wasn’t needed. Thanks.

Im thinking I can just use a piece of garden hose to siphon it out. Any ideas? This is a rare occurance but the flash floods have been really bad! Husband is under there bucketing it out, lol. Poor guy just got off a 12 hr shift! It’s supposed to rain like this all week.. I need advice.
My poor furnace is under there too & now the a/c doesnt work. I could cry!
Yeah hubby went and rented some sort of pump. He is thru with any of my input as many of you husbands may understand, lol. Thanks for the help though!

What is a reasonable price to pay an independent lawn care guy to come every 2 weeks, to cut & wead-eat a yard that is a little under an acre, .80 acre?
