I am a first time home buyer with very little experience in gardening or lawn care. I have a third of an acre with a beautiful area for flowers, however I began raking away the wet leaves from last fall this week and realized there is about two inches of wood mulch then a plastic lining. This plastic lining can come up right?? I want to get to cleaned out, but I am afraid to remove the plastic.
Please let me know if I should remove it or leave it alone…thanks!!

I recently moved into a house with a 1/4 acre (I think) backyard. Unfortunetly, the former tenents did not care about the yard and let it go to absolute hell. The grass is so dead its dark brownish and there is patches where there’s no grass at all scattered all over the lawn. There’s also an abundance of your basic weeds and clovers.
How do I go about carefully removing the weeds and dead grass, and replacing it when lush grass that will thrive?

I just moved into a house where the previous owners didn’t do any sort of lawn care at all. It is 3/4 acre of almost pure clover. Does anyone know the quickest and most effective way to get rid of it, so I can start working on getting the grass to grow. I was thinking about using Tru-green, but all they do is spray some stuff, I think I can do that if I knew what to spray. They want 85 dollars an app and say they need 5 apps a year

I wiuld like to add a sprinkler system to my yard. Right now, hiring a contractor is not an option from budget standpoint. So, here are my choices. If you have any experience with them, let me know. I have about 3/4 acre to manage.
1. Keep dragging hoses
2. Rig up some type of more efficient hose – maybe a pvc pipe attachment with 2 sprinklers on it that I attach to the garden hose. I would have to make this but it might cut down on the numbers of times I have to reposition the sprinkler.
3. I’ve seen those new systems that are like an underground hose with sprinklers attached. You just create a shallow ‘trench’ with your shovel, lay in the hose with the sprinklers attached and hook up the hose to the facuet.
4. Do a whole underground system myself with pipes and timers, etc.

How much should i charge per acre of yard i have to mow.
Should it be 50 dollars an acre ( depending on how rough the terrain is)
I’m just looking for some far priceing scales. I am wanting to start my own lawn care service.
I have the equipment but i’m unsure on how i should Bill clients.
I figured i would offer:
Weeding.
Weed eating
Planting
Mowing.
Debry removal
mulching
Hedge trimming
Landscaping
landsacpe design
I have my associate degree in drafting and design. for the landsacpe design i would charge .35 cent a square foot. Depending on size of project.

I have an acre of lawn in central Florida, it’s green and thick for the most part.. but there are areas where it’s yellowish and the grass is sparse. What can I do to make the grass thick and green? Fertizlize? Reseed? Water?
Thx
